Waicai Group Delegation Visits HCT to Explore Strategic Collaboration in Applied Education

The Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) hosted a senior delegation from the Waicai Group and Nanchang Vocational University at its Bani Yas campus in Abu Dhabi. The visit focused on establishing long-term cooperation in vocational education, applied training, and workforce development, reflecting the shared commitment to developing practical educational programs that enhance students’ workforce readiness.

His Excellency Dr. Faisal Alayyan, President & CEO of the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT), officially welcomed the guests alongside Dr. Ahmad Alawar, Executive Director of HCT - Abu Dhabi Campuses, and Ms. Sumaya Al Hosani, HCT Vice President of Strategy & Future, alongside members of administrative and academic staff.

Representing the visiting delegation were Mr. Wan Long, Founder & Chairman of Waicai Group, Mr. Zhang Zhitong, Vice Chairman of Nanchang Vocational University, and Mr. Yang Xiaopei, President of Nanchang Vocational University, who were accompanied by officials from both organizations.

The visit included a tour of the Bani Yas campus facilities, where the delegation explored classrooms equipped with the latest technologies that support interactive and applied learning, providing an innovative learning environment aligned with global best practices, including the Kre8+ Lab. The Kre8+ Lab is an applied research lab under HCT, equipped with advanced platforms to support innovative projects and the development of creative solutions in collaboration with both the academic and private sectors, reflecting the colleges’ commitment to fostering innovation and connecting education with the labor market and future needs.

The discussions centered on aligning academic outputs with the UAE’s national priorities, specifically focusing on industrial diversification, and creating sustainable employment pathways for graduates. Potential areas of collaboration explored joint training programs, dual-certification pathways, and expanded student exchange initiatives.

As the UAE’s leading applied higher education institution, HCT continues to expand its network of international partners to provide students with practical training that meets the evolving demands of the labor market.
