Students Eye Important Futures as DMC Hosts 9th Annual Careers Day

Under the patronage of the HCT Chancellor, HE Mohammad Omran Al Shamsi, the HCT-Dubai Men’s College (DMC) recently hosted its 9th Annual Careers Day as more than 55 government, semi-government and private institutions participated in this key event, organized by the college’s Academic Affairs Department.

Dr Abdullatif Al Shamsi, Vice Chancellor of the Higher Colleges of Technology, officially inaugurated the exhibition which generated over 300 career opportunities for students. Dr Al Shamsi emphasized HCT’s eagerness to organize this event that contributes to strengthening its ties with employers in various sectors in the UAE, as well as enhancing Emiratization efforts.

He added that the HCT aims to produce graduates who will be the first choice of employers in the labour market. This can be achieved by providing highly qualified faculty and an enriching learning environment which lead to an innovative student experience, as well as offering programmes that are aligned with the UAE Vision.

The annual DMC Careers Day attracts a range of public and private-sector institutions and companies who provide job opportunities for students, who can meet with prospective employers and representatives to familiarize themselves with job vacancies and the skills and experience needed for future employment.

At the same time, employers have the opportunity to gain awareness on the specializations offered by HCT and the skills and competencies acquired by HCT students. Employers conducted interviews with students and graduates to discuss available career opportunities.

The job opportunities provided ranged from fulltime and part time positions, as well as summer internships and temporary employment or volunteer work.

Dr Al Shamsi said that the 17 HCT campuses, with over 24,000 students, always seek to organize and host many events and initiatives that promote training and recruitment opportunities, supported by strategic partnerships with various institutions in the community, for students and graduates.
