Over 12,000 Students Enroll in 200-plus HCT’s 2022 Summer Semester Courses
The Higher Colleges of Technology’s (HCT) has celebrated another successful summer semester, with 12,559 students enrolling in 213 courses offered across 1,032 classes, during June, for the 2021-2022 academic year.
HCT offers intensive summer courses across its core programs of Engineering, Health Sciences, Applied Media, Business, Computer Information Science, and Education.
Of the students enrolled in the summer semester, 3,303 enrolled in order to complete their work placement requirements so as to graduate without delay. Prior to enrolling for the summer courses, students are instructed to seek their academic advisors’ guidance to identify their study needs and enroll in appropriate courses that ensure successful studies.
Dr. Khaled Alhammadi, HCT Director of Admissions and Registration, said that the summer semester courses helped students, particularly those seeking to accelerate their progress, improve their grades or boost low GPAs. “They have the opportunity to study courses that contribute to raising their grades and therefore avoid receiving any academic warnings,” Dr. Alhammadi said.
He noted the summer semester courses incorporate HCT’s Hybrid Education model, where students take some courses remotely or online and others by way of on-campus, face-to-face learning, depending on the nature of the courses. Exams are conducted on campus.
Dr. Alhammadi said students seeking to graduate during the summer semester were given the opportunity to complete their work placement requirements, so they can graduate on time, according to their program and study plans.
Students’ results will be announced in the first week of July, after the summer exams are held at the end of June.
