HCT Launches Extensive COVID-19 Vaccination Campaign for Students & Employees

The Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT), in coordination with the Ministry of Education (MOE) and the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP), has kicked off an integrated campaign to vaccinate its students and staff against the COVID-19 virus.
With the campaign starting in the week of January 10, 2021 at the HCT’s Abu Dhabi campuses, nearly 3,000 students and staff have received the COVID-19 vaccine. The campaign will be expanding as planned to include all other HCT campuses across the UAE.
Eng. Adnan Al Mansoori, HCT Executive Director of General Services, said: “The Higher Colleges of Technology has launched the drive to vaccinate its students and staff, and also service providers' staff, in line with the UAE Government’s efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19 virus, and maintain the health and safety of community members, in view of the national efforts being made towards the recovery phase.”
Mr. Al Mansoori emphasized the importance of this campaign for educational institutions in general, and the HCT in particular, as the largest higher educational institution in the UAE with approximately 23,000 students and 2,000 employees at 16 campuses throughout the UAE
He added that providing the COVID-19 vaccine on campus will encourage students and staff to receive the vaccine in a straight forward manner, as well as supporting a healthy and safe environment, particularly as HCT has increased the student attendance rate on campuses to 50% in the current spring semester.
Mr. Al Mansoori confirmed that HCT will continue to apply all precautionary measures of maintaining social spacing and wearing masks, in addition to requiring the presentation of valid, negative COVID-19 PCR test results for students and staff. This requirement will apply to those who have not received the COVID-19 vaccine or received only the first dose of the vaccine. Hence, such people will be required to take a COVID-19 PCR test to enter the campus until they get the second dose of the vaccine. In addition, all students and staff are urged to avoid attending the campuses if they have symptoms, such as cold/flu, difficulty breathing and high temperature.
HCT’s plan to provide the COVID-19 vaccine for its staff and students is expected to cover the remaining HCT campuses in Abu Dhabi Emirate (Al Ain and Al Dhafra) within a week. The vaccination program is being coordinated with the health authorities to cover the other campuses in Dubai and the Northern Emirates in the coming days.
