HCT Community Raises National Flag “High & Proud” As It Celebrates UAE Flag Day
The Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) raised the UAE flag at all its 16 campuses across the UAE in celebration of UAE Flag Day, celebrated annually on November 3, and which marks the anniversary of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s accession as President of the UAE.
This year’s celebrations were hosted in socially distanced settings as precautionary measures against the spread of COVID-19 with limited numbers of faculty, staff and students physically in attendance. Nonetheless, all HCT students and staff were given the opportunity to watch a live broadcast of the flag raising ceremony, held at the HCT-Dubai Men’s campus, enabling all HCT members to share their love of the UAE and show their pride in its leadership.
As part of the celebrations, Dr. Abdullatif Al Shamsi, HCT President & CEO, extended his congratulations to His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, as well as the people of the UAE. Dr Al Shamsi said UAE Flag Day “reflects the cohesion of UAE Nationals and expatriates under the UAE’s beloved flag as they all sing the national anthem with love and pride.”
He added that the UAE stands united in pride as a pioneering country in all its national occasions and endeavors. “Today the UAE proves to the world that it is able to confront challenges successfully. Despite the COVID-19 crisis, we are all celebrating and raising the UAE flag high in every Emirate and home to assert that life continues, whatever happens, as we reflect on the achievements of our wise leadership,” Dr. Al Shamsi said.
Dr. Al Shamsi noted that the UAE will proudly celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2021 and will launch into the next 50 years as it celebrates “UAE Centennial 2071”.
