HCT Celebrates Graduation of 902 Innovation & Entrepreneurship Program Students at Expo 2020

The HCT celebrated the graduation of 902 male and female students from the Innovation and Entrepreneurship program from the 2021 "Future Makers" cohort, at the EXPO 2020 Dubai precinct.

The graduation ceremony was attended H.E. Dr. Thani bin Ahmed AlZeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade, Professor Abdullatif AlShamsi, HCT President & CEO, HCT senior officials, teaching and administrative staff and parents.

H.E. Dr. Thani bin Ahmed AlZeyoudi expressed his happiness at the HCT students’ graduation; the young men and women of the nation who embody its values, goals, aspirations and hopes. He noted the graduation ceremony at Expo 2020 is a source of pride for them as well as an incentive for them to innovate, be creative and takes an active part in the achievement and development process for the next 50 years.

H.E. AlZeyoudi added that the UAE has ambitious plans and projects to encourage and support entrepreneurship, and promote economic growth, stressing that the doors are open for the youth to prove themselves in this area. He said they will find great encouragement and support both in their careers and in establishing their SMEs. He noted that the youth are a main factor in maintaining the UAE’s lead and competitiveness and shared his hope to see them all being influential and creative in making their personal, and the nation’s, future.

The Minister of State lauded HCT’s efforts as a prestigious institution that enjoys a strong reputation and solid relations with the employment sectors, for its active role in supplying the labor market with qualified national cadres, as well as keeping up with global developments and changes, always aligned to the UAE leadership’s foresight and visions. He wished all graduates the best of success in their future.

In his speech on behalf of the HCT’s Board of Trustees, Professor Abdullatif AlShamsi, HCT President & CEO, welcomed H.E Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, and conveyed the Board’s happiness at his presence.

Professor AlShamsi congratulated the attendees on this exceptional occasion, noting it as the first time HCT is able to celebrate all graduates from the class of 2021, totaling nearly 4,000 male and female students, in one physical location. He said the Expo 2020 site made it an unforgettable memory for the graduates and incentivizes them, as the international event embodies the will, determination and leadership of the UAE, particularly with the UAE’s return to normalcy due to the leaders’ efforts.

Professor AlShamsi extended thanks and gratitude to President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the UAE’s wise leadership, for all their efforts to maintain the security, safety and stability of the nation, and for their continued and unlimited support to the HCT, which has enabled it to achieve its supreme mission of qualifying national cadres and empowering them to play effective roles in the future.

He told the audience that the current HCT graduates are fully prepared for the future, expressing his pride that 3,250 graduates of the class of 2021 (85% of the total cohort of graduates), hold international professional certificates in addition to their academic degrees. He also noted that 221 graduates, (6% of the total graduates), have succeeded in establishing their own startups through the HCT InnCuVation Spaces.

“Here are our graduates, as we promised our wise leadership: Leaders in their fields, professional in their skills, entrepreneurs with their own companies, and enthusiastic to serve their country,” he said.

On behalf of the HCT’s Board of Trustees, Professor Al Shamsi then announced the graduation of the 902 students (650 females and 252 males) from the Innovation and Entrepreneurship program.

The male and female graduates from the class of 2021 totaled 3,848 students who have completed their studies. He concluded by congratulating the graduates, wishing them every success in serving their country. H.E. Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, accompanied by Professor Abdullatif Al Shamsi, presented Graduation Certificates to the graduates and took a memorial photo with them.

The graduating students welcomed H.E Dr. Thani bin Ahmed AlZeyoudi, thanking him for gracing their graduation ceremony with his attendance. They shared their joy at the graduation ceremony being held at Expo 2020 and thanked all faculty and staff who contributed to their success and distinction.
