HCT-Al Ain Women’s College hosts “Legacy of Islam” Exhibition
On Wednesday March, 5, HCT Al Ain Women’s College (AAWC) hosted the “Legacy of Islam” Exhibition in the AAWC library.
The exhibition displayed students’ work on Islamic art and Inventions of the Muslim world around the 10th century. It was organised by AAWC faculty member Zainab Al Hussaini and students in her Community Service Learning (CSL) course.
CSL students produced displays of famous Islamic inventors, Islamic calligraphy, science and the Qur’an. The exhibition was also supported by other courses including Foundations Math 2, whose students contributed pieces based on Islamic Geometry; Art Appreciation students who displayed their Mosque Design projects and Photography students who displayed their photographs of Sheikh Zayed Mosque and other examples of Islamic architecture.
The AAWC Library supported the event with a display of works on Islamic art, heritage and scholars throughout history. The exhibition also included educational and documentary videos on how Muslim invitations from past centuries have had a great impact on our current life.
At the opening ceremony CSL students raised money for charity by selling Islamic artifacts including handmade calligraphic work. The exhibition ran from March 5-12.
