In a wide-ranging interview with the Al Ittihad newspaper, Dr. Abdullatif Al Shamsi, HCT President & CEO, discussed a number of Hybrid education-related initiatives being implemented by the Higher Colleges of Technology, in light of ramifications of the COVID-19 pandemic.
These include the launch and assessment of five new methods of student evaluation; the continuation of the transformative hybrid education post-COVID, including on-campus exams; and the necessity to re-configure HCT and its HR procedures as HCT is seeking qualified faculty members to teach students remotely.
In addition, he advised HCT will realign its campuses in the next five years to be open laboratories for students, thus reducing campus spaces and costs, while increasing virtual classes.
Dr. Al Shamsi added that hybrid education today gives universities an opportunity to improve the delivery of education to the “iPad generation”, by using state-of-the-art technologies in a fun digital learning experience to ensure student engagement and attendance rates.
