Al Ain Women’s College’s main event crowns glorious National Day Festival
Al Ain Women’s College crowned its 42nd National Day Festival with a main event that took place on Wednesday November 27, 2013.
Al Ain Colleges Director Hamsa Saleh Al Ammari, students, staff and visitors attended the celebrations which included cultural, traditional and entertainment activities.
The programme started with the playing of the national anthem, then College Director Hamsa Saleh Al Ammari welcomed the large audience.
On behalf of the Al Ain Women’s College family, Mrs Al Ammari said the celebration expressed appreciation of the achievements realised under the guidance of UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al-Nahyan (May God Protect Him), and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai; their Highnesses, Members of the Supreme Council; Rulers of other Emirates; and His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces. Mrs Al Ammari joined the audience cutting a huge three-metre long cake, made from fruits in the form of the UAE flag.
The audience then enjoyed a magnificent march by the Al Ain Police followed by an enjoyable Harbiya traditional dance performed by the Al Mazyood Band. After that, students competed in a traditional knowledge competition and won valuable prizes. Then, it was time for Best Traditional Outfit competition.
The event programme also included a traditional souq, a Business students exhibition, henna design, film display about UAE culture, traditional cartoon characters, an exhibition of the seven Emirates, children's activities, art work forming the UAE flag and a traditional dinner.
