ADWC Applied Communications students stage final show
Senior Applied Communications students at the HCT’s Abu Dhabi Women’s College have presented their 2012 exhibition, Exit.
The exhibition was the work of 31 students currently looking forward to finishing their studies in Applied Media and Interior Design. Works on display included graphic design, video, audio, animation, floor plans, design boards, and photography.
The exhibit’s theme, “Exit" represents the students’ awareness of leaving the College to go on to the next phase of their careers.
With ambitions to work in the media and design industries, the students, who will finish their studies in June, feel that their years at ADWC have given them a high level of skills. Students have learned from ADWC’s outstanding faculty, as well as from international guests who conducted various workshops, from Islamic design principles to awareness of the local media environment.
Applied Communications students planned every aspect of the exhibit, including the floor plan, the space, and all promotional materials. In addition, they hosted a gala opening attended by friends, colleagues, and leaders of Abu Dhabi’s media community. Students in Applied Communications have participated in festivals, competitions, and enrichment programs outside the College throughout their studies, and many have developed extensive networks among media and design professionals.
Michele Turner, Chair of Applied Communications at ADWC, explained, “This exhibit was a key part of these students’ final semester here at the College. They were motivated to show their creativity to people outside the College, and they have done incredibly well. They will have a fantastic future in the industry of their choosing.”
Dr. Jace Hargis, ADWC’s Director, stated, “We’re very proud of our senior Applied Communications students. As their College career comes to a close, it’s appropriate that they exhibit some of their best works, and we thank those visitors who joined with us to celebrate this occasion.”
